I have made a few hills at my forum, and I also will have tournaments
about once a month. My hills are Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.
You can host your own tournaments and hills at my forum. Here is the
address to go to them: http://lukasoft.gasoftware.net/

PS: as I said before, you will not have to join to post and
participate on hills and tournaments.

Is anyone interested in this? I thought it would be popular because
the forum is better (because it posts instantly, you can edit your
posts, and other stuff like instant messaging). Did anyone even check
out the forum?

yes, i have checked it. but i watch google only one time in 1 or 2
days. therefore instandly posting isn't any advantage to me. and
google is much faster to view with my 28/8 ;-)

That's sounds like a problem with your news provider.

If I make any really serious errors in a news post, I can always cancel
or supersede it, or just post a followup. If there are typos, who
really cares?

What advantages does that have 1) good old email 2) any other instant
messaging service?

Usenet is better because it comes to me in a nice aggregated form: I can
read it quickly and efficiently, without having to put yet another
click-intensive web site on my list of 'things to read every morning'.

Cheers,
