THG is NOT the website to follow for optical drive reviews. CDRlabs is the best website for optical drive reviews.

Need an opinion. Would you guys rather buy a Plextor DVD Writer or Lite-On?

Or maybe I should be asking what's the best DVD Writer I can buy for my computer?

What about Plextor or Pioneer?
I'm looking for something that has a good compatability rate with my home stand alone DVD player and for my PS2.

Its really up to you. If you got the money, I would say get thte new plextor 8X since it can burn almost everything, and burn em fast also. Although it's kinda pricey at around 200 USDright now. On the other hand, if you have a low budget, Lite-On or poineer would be the choice.
knewn issue about poineer a06 is it ripps kinda slow, though burning quality, reading damaged disc really well.
I remember reading some reviews on the Lite-On dvd burners saying they have some minor issues also. you might want to find some optical storage review site for the details.

Pioneer A07!!! Now there's a DVD Burner I really want. But it's too expensive for me =(. Maybe later on when it gets cheaper I'll pick one up.

I guess it's support for full 8x DVD-R/+R writing speeds.
Yeah I know. Liteon just announced their new SOHW-812S too!
Hmm I think I could be better off with LiteOn but maybe I should wait? I think they were suppose to ramp up DVD writing speeds to 16x by the end of this year?

haha isn't the better, better? But technology is changing so fast I just might want to get something on the value side. I don't burn DVD's very often so maybe a Liteon or Pioneer 4x DVD+/- RW will do.
