Just some good old advice here needed! I picked up a Compac Presario
1235 Notebook. It says it has a 56k-DF(data fax modem).
What can be done, to get a NEW MODEM, to install and run OS Windows XP?
It has a 96 MB RAM, to small or what?
I looked for a new modem, wizard, to install, but..NO LIST to choose from, now what?
Plain and simple please...so even I can understand(grandma).

What exactly is your question?
Are you trying to get your current OS to recognize the modem?
Are you doing a fresh install of windows XP and need drivers for the modem?
Are you installing a new modem?
I see you are concerned that windows XP will run with only 96MB Ram...64MB is the bare minimum to run XP, so it should be OK, and with the correct drivers, the modem should work fine for dial-up or receiving faxes.
