Any ideas on which Android phone to get Early 2010. I was looking at Xperia X10 cause it had a few things I liked.

Likes: (Bolded major likes and Dislikes)

1) 4.0 inch display (480 x 854)
2) 1 Ghz processor
3) 1 GB internal Memory (384MB RAM)
4) 1500 mAh battery
5) 8.1 megapixel camera
6) Rachael UX UI

Dislikes:

1) 1.6 Android
2) Display 65K colors (blame Android 1.6)
3) Rachael UI tightly integrated with 1.6 Android - hard to upgrade!
4) Display not AMOLED

Is there any other Android phone out there that's worth keeping an eye on. I've seen the HTC Bravo - wish it had the bigger battery and Sony Camera.

HTC NEXUS One is another good choice too but it has a 5MP camera.
Also HTC Bravo will be out too and it has a 5MP camera but with a rumored HD Video recording.
So i think its better to wait for X10 to come out and check a review first and we can judge better

Not officialy announced, but with a rooted android phone, near anything is possible. ..i though i saw something on rooting it, a guide already...
also, its been installed on g1 and mytouch. slow and unstable, but running.

No,it depends on the usage of the user.
Although X10 is a great phone it has its cons too,one of the bad things about it is 65k display for example

That's Android 1.6 limitation. Once you upgrade to 2.0+ then you'll get 16M colors.

Desire is a solid phone. I bought the X10 for the following reasons.

1GB internal memory, Desire has 1/2 that. So I can save more apps.

384MB RAM... less than Desire, but more than Droid. If Droid is fine with 256MB then I'd expect X10 to be OK.

Best Smartphone Camera. The 8.1 MP camera is basically a Sony Cybershot on a phone - function wise.

- Image Stabalization
- Multi-Image focus (5 people) - with Face/Name recognition.
- Smile detection
- X16 zoom
- + much more.

Sony 4.0 inch screeen TFT screen vs. HTC 3.7 inch AMOLED screen. I was not willing to take a risk with Nexus One/Desire screen with all the negative reports on it.

- Desire is 3G capable (7.2 Mbps down / 2 Mbps up) and Xperia X10 is 3.5G capable (10.2 Mbps / 2-5.76 Mbps up)

- Likely PS3 integration coming.

- Sony's desire to (see what I did there?) to upgrade to Android 2.2
