Hello, well, i need to buy a notebook mainly for work and to carry to college, so it needs to be light (right know i'm on my sister's compaq which weights like 6.4 lb, and it's waay to heavy), but of course, i hope i don't have to sacrifice much hardware power. My budget is probably 800-850 dollars (hopefully 800), so if you could give me some recomendations, i would very much appreciate it.

Greetings.

How are going to be using the machine? It's going to be tough to find a laptop lighter than 6 lbs in that price range, super lightweights are expensive. Getting a smaller screen should make it light but then if you're gaming, watching movies, etc you'd probably want at least 15.4". Your best bet would be to check out Dell but try to get a Windows CD rather than a just a restore CD. Keep in mind you'll have a carrying case you can sling over your shoulder so 6 - 7 lbs or so isn't that heavy.

I'm actually fine with a smaller screen, i'm not using it for gaming. I was just looking at the XPS M1330 and it's a beauty. I think i'll try to save some money for one of those, since i can't find anything similar.

Looks like a nice machine if you can live with the smaller screen. Bit over $800 :)

You can just get the Lenovo ThinkPad Z61t 1.83GHz 1GB 80GB laptop, you can get one for $599 at LENOVO.
