Hey I have a suggestion to the guys doing reviews of the LCD monitors here.
To make it easier to determinte which monitor is the best absolute choice you should use a camera to take pictures of a color palette at different angles to get an idea of the viewing angles and how it distorts the colors. Take a picture of the monitor with a black background displayed in a dark room. Also it would be great if you took pictures running the LCD response testing software PixPerAN... All of these elements would greatly assist in purchasing the right monitor for us.
I recently bought a Viewsonic VX924 because of the low price and low response time. Also being fooled by reviews coming mostly from LCD first-timers. First thing I noticed is the viewing angle is terrible, yet nothing is stated in your review about it. The backlight bleeds/leaks through very badly, which in your review you mention nothing about it. For some reason colors on the bottom of the screen are more vibrant compared to the top of the screen. This could've been avoided had I had access to such pictures of the monitor such as the ones on this site: http://prohardver.hu/p.php?mod=21&id=801
They also provide a little AVI file showing the monitors in action with Quake 3... just sadly the site is in Hungarian.
Had I knew about this site earlier I would've never bought the VX924 solely because of the backlight issues. You can see the problem clearly in their backlight test here:
, and compare it to my own actual test here:
Had I seen A picture like this on this site I would've saved myself the hassle of returning this monitor.
