Read the <A HREF="http://storagereview.com/guide/guide_index.html" target="_new">Hard Disk Drive Reference Guide</A> over at <A HREF="http://www.storagereview.com" target="_new">storage review</A> for far more information than anyone is ever going to give you here.

Basically SATA and SCSI are names for different communication interfaces (buses) between hard disk and the computer.

SCSI is an older standard, superior to IDE. SATA is a newer version of IDE that uses different cables.

Scsi Drives also have RPM (rotations per minute)speeds up to like 15K where as IDE drives are 7200... SATA drives are starting to get up there, the WD Raptor - 10K rpm...
Also SATA has a new interface obvioulsy Serial, the cable looks pretty nice, it's thin, very flexable and also saves room and makes the inside of your case look nice and neat.
