I am upgrading my ram and I was doing my part of the reading and....I got confused.
I want to get 2 sticks x 256 mb DDR for my Asus A7N8X mobo. The cpu will be a 2500+.
Now, should i get the 333 mhz or the 400 mhz ram?
I read articles about the 333 running better then 400 on 333 mobos and still, i see that everybody has the 400 in their systems.
So,
Question 1: 400mhz ram better or not that 333 mhz ram on an Asus A7N8X and a 2500+(for dual channel mode)?
Question 2: which brand seems to be better from the follwing?: Kingmax, Samsung, Crosaire Value Select and Kingston(KVR400X64C3/256). All sticks are PC-3200 DDR400 SDRAM.(no more that $5 diff, so...)
thx

DDR400 would provide more headroom; a bit more beneficial for overclocking and/or upgrades. I'd go with the DDR400. In either case, set the FSB in sync with the RAM by setting "Memory Frequency" to 100 percent (sync) in the motherboard's BIOS.

Recently, i've seen Corsair Value Select and Crucial recommended. Should be fine by going that route. I'll also throw in the Buffalo Tech DDR400 module w/ Winbond Rev C chips (Model#: DD4002-S256, not sure if it's available in Canada, Review).

If you run your DDR400 at DDR333 speed, you get DDR333 performance. But DDR400 might allow you to overclock your 2500+ to 3200+ speed simply by increasing the bus speed to 200MHz, with the RAM still synchronous to the CPU FSB.
