CD/DVD Audio problem

This is probably the wrong place to be looking for an answer to this topic,
but I thought I would throw it up against the wall and see if anything
sticks. One of you gurus or computer geeks (only respect intended here <g>)
might have seen it before.

On a public omputer at work, when I play any audio file (.avi, .mpg) it
seems to play back at double-speed. The voice sounds like one of the
chipmonks.

It's a real pain in the arse but I am clueless on how to fix it. Any help
will be appreciated.

Tom
