It's a KDS 19" CRT of some model that I don't really care about. I got it cause it was dirt cheap.

Anywho, occasionally (usually in web browser windows, and seemingly at random) my monitor will start kindof waving back and forth, usually on the top inch or two, sometimes also on the bottom, occasionally just in the middle.

It seems to go away on its own, but I'm just curious if anyone knows what the heck it is. I haven't noticed any reason behind when or why it happens.

Could need degaussing or could be radio or electrical interference. If you PC is not shielded and/or is to close to monitor, it can cause similar distortion...

Its the control magnets getting out of wack somehow. Either from age/wear or external interference.

Try degaussing as Rich said.

Mike.

One of my monitors does the same thing...when the microwave is running.
