Hello, I need to buy a new laptop... What are the Top 5 Video cards on laptops as of Feb 2010? I need to so my homework before I buy the laptop!

For single cards, HD 5870M,HD 4870MM,GTX 280M,HD 4850M and GTX 260M are top choices

While we're on this topic, which is better for mobile gaming - Nvidia or ATI? My "ancient" Mobility Radeon X300 (128 MB) can play games that my friend's Geforce Go 6800 can't.

It depends on the circumstances. Trying to characterize one company as better than the other in general is a waste of time.

I'm asking with regards to [Battery life] > [Gaming performance] > [Cost], if that narrows it down.

It doesn't narrow it down because both companies have solutions that do all of the above well, so it's more about chips/cards that do the above than the companies.

i love ati cards more than nvidia but nvidia mobility drivers are so much better comes out every month ati has yet to do that i hope they fix it in 10.2 and 10.3 so its like the desktop ccc... battery life i say nvidia gamer performance ati cost nvidia is more on laptops than ati since they run so hot and you need a good cooling system.

Regarding drivers, can't you just get those third-party ones? Or are those based off of the new ATI releases? I know Dell's website only offers me a display driver from 2005, but I grabbed one in 2008 from RadeonOmega.

yea there are ati modders who come out with drivers that work real wonders on them. but some people might not be able to find them

well the ati hd gtx260m would be the cheapeast of the bunch would could cost around 400 same for ati hd 4850 laptop gpu are really expensive.

and you cant really get from a manufactuerer have to check ebay and forums for them.
