I've got a laptop with an AMD tl-50 cpu (1.6 gig and only 256 L2 cache per core.) I can buy a tl-56 (1.8 gig 512K L2 per core) for like $85. In your opinions is it worth the risk to open up and essentially disassemble the laptop (which I've never done before but I have the documentation) in order to drop in this CPU upgrade? I've messed around with desktops quite a bit but never laptops. What do you think?

If you have the proper tools (including a grounding electrostatic strap), manual dexterity and a good memory of how parts fit together, I think you can do it. In terms of performance, you'll see a small performance boost, not sure if it's worth 85 dollars though.
