Hello I got an Acer Aspire 3050 laptop and I has a MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-850S and recently it just wouldn't read CDs.

It reads and burns DVD perfectly fine but when you put a certain CD inside it won't read it.

It reads some CDs but the majority of them it doesn't.

Was wondering what my options where. Being a laptop its not easy to find a replacement. I tried searching on eBay but didn't find anyone selling a CD/DVD rom for this laptop.

Is it possible to fit a different brand on CD/DVD player in the computer?

You should be able to use other DVD drive brands. Check the dimensions of the current drive H/W/L and whether has either an ATA or SATA connection
