Hi all,

I'm new to laptops, and my laptop arrived yesterday with no OS and no drivers installed. It has a 512mb 8600M GT and the driver on the driver disc is 156.xx

My question is are these NBF MobilForce drivers modded drivers and not official drivers from Nvidia?

I saw on the Nvidia website that the current driver for Vista 32 bit is 169.25, but none were on the section for the mobile 8 series. Can I use the 169.25 for my 8600M GT, will there be issues?

I'm new to laptop graphics and wasn't sure if I should download modded drivers.

Thanks for your help.

Yes there will be issues. The 100 series drivers are for desktop cards. Officially, NVidia doesn't even support the mobile cards and leaves it up to the OEM to make drivers. Go to the manufacturer's site of your laptop and see if they have the ones you need. There may be a cracked version of the 169.25 that will let you run them on your laptop, but you would need to download them from laptopvideo2go.com.
