Hi guys hows it going. In my area i have someone selling a Dell Xps m1710 with the following specs and i got him down to 1200$

Dell Xps m1710
17" lcd 1920x1200.
Intel Merom Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16ghz.
Nvidia Go Geforce 7950gtx 512mb ddr3.
2gb ram 667mhz.
100gb hd.
Both Xp and Vista.
Full Warranty good until 10/26/09.

I was hoping of purchasing this and keeping it if i wanted too... or even selling it for more money. I was wondering if you guys thought this is a good deal.

My other option was to buy a barebone notebook like the Asus c90s or Compal Ilf90.

The Asus would cost me 1300 with a desktop cpu, and 8600 card for 1300.
And the Compal would have a mobile cpu and and 8600 card for 1000.

If i decide to go through with it the deal would go down tomorrow, please give me some opinions i cant decide! thanks =] I appreciate everything!

Considering that laptop would have cost the original buyer about 3 grand, I would say you are getting a decent deal. The 7950GTX is a better card than the 8600, so if gaming is a concern I would choose it over your other options.

Agreed with logan

M1710 is an old but solid laptop and 7950GTX destroys the 8600GT

For that price, it's great. Just make sure it's a local seller, last time somebody posted something like this, it was off ebay and he kinda got shafted on the GPU. Check it out to make sure it's in decent condition, and maybe invest in a new XP Pro CD just so you can wipe it and reinstall everything.

Otherwise, go for it!
