My friend's laptop's DC jack was broken so he took it to a repair place. They took it apart but didn't now how to fix it, so he asked me to work on it. Fixing the DC jack was very easy, but since I was not the one who took the laptop apart, I'm having some trouble putting it back together. This laptop is a Gateway 7324.

The LCD panel has several wires coming out. It is easy to tell where most of them connect to the motherboard, but I cannot figure out two of them. They are small connectors, about 2 mm diameter. They appear to be gold-plated or at least they have a gold color. The connectors are hard to describe and I've never seen anything like them.

Electrically, they seem connected to ground. When I put a meter between a ground connector (on the LCD assembly) and the small gold connectors there is continuity. Here are some pictures.

What I need to know is: Where do these connect to the motherboard?

One other question: What appears to be the data connector is symmetrical. Is there any way to figure out which way it goes in to the connector on the motherboard?

Photo with flash (color came out wrong - connector is actually gold-colored not silver).

Thank you.
