Comcast says i need to get new modem

Hello,

my internet service "dies' about every 3 days. i have to disconnect the line from modem to wall outlet (sometimes several times) to get it to 'reconnect'. comcast says i need new modem. do i or is this a scam?

They could be right. Or they could just be giving you an answer that is easy for them.

Is your modem one that supported by Comcast? Is the firmware up-to-date?
Is your DHCP lease time set for 3 days?
