Q: RAM for a Toshiba M400 tablet

I'm looking to put 2 x 2GB SODIMM modules into an M400 and was wondering if anyone has any experience or recommendations for this tablet?

The product specs says it uses PC5300 DDR2 SDRAM

  1. Anything on this list should work with your system: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010260381+1309221136+1309121118&name=4GB+(2+x+2GB)

The only two companies I'm iffy about are A-data and PNY, but only because I have no experience with them.
  2. By recommendation do you mean types of RAM? Because pretty much any PC2-5300 SODIMM (the SODIMM means it fits the laptop ram slots) ram will fit in your notebook. The ram should be hidden under a panel somewhere on the bottom of your notebook. Switching out ram nowadays is pretty easy.

For example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145193 would be an option.

Keep in mind that if you're running a 32 bit operating system, you'll only see about 3.25-3.5 gigs of that ram, because the rest can't be used unless you have a 64 bit operating system.
  3. here is the memory specs for the Toshiba laptop you are looking for. it's portege M400.
-Configured with 512MB PC5300 DDR2 667MHz SDRAM (both memory slots are occupied)
    -512MB (Min)/4096MB (Max), with 256MB, 512MB, 1024MB or 2048MB PC4200 or PC5300 DDR2 memory modules.

    hope this helps.
  4. Thanks all who answered, I've ordered some of the Corsair RAM from a local supplier and am looking forward to being able to address (most) of it in the near future :)
