I have been using the Palm folding keyboard (the W one) on a T3, but now I
am having constant problems. When I connect them, the palm believes I am
trying to hotsync. I suspect the driver may be clashing with something else,
since I have hard reset and completly reloaded my stuff. I carry a lot of
other programs on my T3.I am using driver 192 which is the latest driver
from the palm website.
Can anyone guess what the problem is?

You *had been* using it, now it doesn't cooperate. Have you installed
third-party software between the time it last worked correctly, and now?

My only experience with a Palm OS device is the Zire 71 which had a
problem with PPKs in that the keyboard activate hotsync when connected
(sound familiar). Palm has a specific patch for this problem on the
Zire. After getting fed up with the bridge adaptor I got to use use
Palm III accessories with the "Palm Universal Connector", I bought a
Palm Wireless keyboard and found that its driver actually works for both
the Wireless and PPK keyboards on the 71.

What is this 'bridge adapter ?" - I have never heard of one, how much,
where from and does it work ? I would like to be able to use my Palm
111 keyboard with my new Zire occasionally but can't really justify the
£50 or so for a new keyboard. Why did you get fed up with it ?

just how many varieties of Palm Kb's ( none wireless)are there. The one I
have doesn't fit the Zire 71, only my Vx. Is this what the bridge adapter
does ( fits Zire onto KB ) ??

It started to give problems with the fitaly keyboard. In the end, I unloaded
everything hard reset and reloaded leaving out the fitaly keyboard. It is
still giving the problem, so I don't know what is causing it (doh, I loaded
the keyboard last, when I should have loaded it first).

Here's the url to the manufacturers site -- I paid $29.95 excluding
shipping costs and taxes. It may also be available from Palmone -- the
site will tell more on the subject. I still use mine with the cable to
my cell phone.

Palm has had four connectors, Palm III, Palm V, Universal Connector and
now USB. The USB doesn't support serial connections like the
predecessors. Bridge connectors are available for permutations of III,
V and Universal. The wireless keyboard uses IR solving some of the mess
that Palm has created and allowing USB only connection Palms to use a
serial keyboard. URL of the connector manufacturer follows:

cheers for the link above, but there is no mention of being able to hook up

The answer is yes, if the order the correct flavor of connector. I used
mine to connect my Zire 71 to a Palm III PPK. I did find that the
result was a bit top heavy since the connector added almost an inch to
the length of the Palm. Americans never have quite grasped Metric.

what is name of the connector ? By PPK, do you mean palm keyboard ?

This url is to the manufacturers web site page for compatibility, It
includes model names for the various connectors and will help you order
the particular connector you need.
As to PPK, it is the original Palm Portable Keyboard designed by
Thinkoutside and branded by Palm. Please excuse my use of Palm jargon.
There have been a couple of generations of that serial port connected
keyboard but they should all work with Midwest PCB Designs connectors.

I have contacted the web site to see if they can sell me an adapter, tho it
might be cheaper to use the PPK on my Vx and then just beam the doc to the
zire
