Windows 7 Pro 64 USB Data Transfer Issues

I'm having a frustrating problem with my new PC that I just built. I figure that the USB drivers (Ext. HDD, USB flash drive) got corrupted somehow, also the computer will take a long time to boot and read if the USB hub/thumb drive is plugged in. Another problem is when you need to copy files from internal HDD to any external HDD or USB takes long time to copy, the computer stops responding. This started happening as soon as it was built.

I'd really appreciate any help.
Thanks,
