Samsung SyncMaster 970P is it good for viewing DVDs?

I am in the process of buying a new computer and looking for a monitor. I will use the computer for watching swimming instructional videos, making dvd's, internet and Microsoft office software. Is this monitor good for my needs? Is there a better LCD screen?
