Hi,

I'm in Thailand, back and forth to USA. I have Desktop PCs with XP Pro both places, but notebook is Mac Powerbook G4 (Tiger). I'd like to but mid-range notebook using XP to carry back and forth. Maybe Dell makes special order without Vista, but very few others in US.

Here I can buy Acer (with Linpus Linux as OS) or Asus with no OS installed, then Install my legal XP Sp2. Both have International warrantees.

ASUS ABE2DSM 120Td (ABE-4PO39) or Aspire 4920-101G16n.

Similar confogurations: Centrino 2 Duo 1.8-2.0 GHz 2-4 MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB GM965 Chipset. ASUS ~US$1000., Acer US$1,100.

Both Acer and ASUS have their US HQ near my home in Santa Cruz.

I'm inclined to go for ASUS, but appreciate advice. Thanks.
