I'm trying to get some good opinions and first-hand impressions of either of these CRT monitors (and no thanks, I don't want an LCD).
The Viewsonic has lots of postive feedback on sites like Newegg, but my impression has been that their products are more consumer-oriented while Phillips more professionally-oriented. Unfortunately, I can only find one user review of the Phillips, which apparently uses a Mitsubishi Real-Flat shadow mask tube.
I'm running two Viewsonic P220fB's on my Windows 7 design system (specs below). Both displays are a bit old and have some issues, namely slight dimming, etc., but run quite nicely together. If you can find a good one nowadays, I highly recommend using it.
System Specs:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate RTM Final
Processor: AMD Athlon X2 2.6GHz
Memory: 4GB DDR2 6400 (800MHz) RAM
Video: ATI Radeon HD4670 IceQ (Primary Monitor)
ATI Radeon HD3200 (Secondary Monitor)
My current Total Resolution is 1600x1200, Max Resolution Possible with drivers and both displays connected to a dedicated graphics card, like my HD4670 is 4096x1536. I only have one DVI-D to VGA adapter, so I have to run each display separately. Once I get the second adapter, I will raise both monitor's resolutions to the previously mentioned 4096x1536.
