I was looking to get a new computer and what about a compaq presario SR1750NX - adding a EVGA GeForce 7800 GT and Viewsonic VX924. Think that this would be a good setup for general gaming (mostly play call of duty 2), and other computer needs? Thanks
Biggest weakness concern I would have...Is the PSU suffiecient for a 7800GT?
Would at least want a good quality 380watt as a min., and suspect they have installed barely a 240watt cheapy in that integrated graphic web machine... that 7800GT will add another 100+ watts to the power draw.
Got the same PC. 300watt PSU, 280 output max.
I was thinking about a 7900GT at first but realized the PSU was way underpowered - ending up with a 7300GS (250w min req./ 18a on 12v rail)
Your PSU, most likely being the same model, 19a on the 12v rail, efficient enough for a 7300GS or a 7600GS, yet a 7600(GT) needs only 18a too, but a 350watt PSU.
I'd go to bestbuy or circutcity and get a 480watter if I was you. 50-60 bucks and thats what I'm planning on doing. Most of the PSU's over 400w have at least 24a on the 12v rail.
Get a new motherboard too... can't overclock the damn 64 3500 either.
