I need to replace my Dell Inspiron 8100 15" SXGA that has served me well for the past several years but now has to be retired because it has fallen behind on my demands. I am looking for a notebook computer to use it with a 1024 pixels wide display because higher resolution makes it very hard on my eyes considering that I spend eight+ hours everyday working with documents, emails, spreadsheets, program code on the computer.

I am looking for a 15" or 17" notebook computer that has a screen that is at least 9” tall so that I can see most of the pages of documents and web pages without having to scroll up and down frequently, and will support a 1024 pixels wide display resolution in a full-screen display. By full screen I mean that when I set the display to 1024 pixels wide, there should not be any black bands running down the two sides of the screen. I saw this happening on the widescreen displays (WSXGA) when I checked out a few laptops in a local electronics store. The 1024 wide does not have to be the native resolution, which can be higher. I also want a fast processor - preferably Intel's new Penryn, 2 or 3 GB RAM, dedicated graphics memory, DVD burner, and preferably built-in webcam and long lasting battery power. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for your inputs.
