Do you think the Core 2 Duo T5450 (1.67GHz 2MB 667FSB) is enough to power the NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS 512MB?

In gaming yes because most of todays games are GPU Limited

Yep good deal , but can make more attractive by using a herger clock cpu atleast 1.8 ghz, 2.0 ghz reasonable. But you won't see much performance gains in games though

The CPU only has 2MB of cache versus the the higher 4MB of the regular Merom chips. Too bad there isn't an option to put a T7200 (2.0 GHz, 4MB L2 cache)...

The Gateway comes with a T5450 that has a 667MHz FSB, so how does that work if you want to drop in a T7300 that has an 800MHz FSB? Will the motherboard and RAM support the upgrade to the 800MHz FSB speed?

You'd be fine doing the upgrade. The system uses the GM965 chipset which support 800mhz FSB CPU's as well as 533 and 667mhz. The 800 FSB CPUs will be fine with 533 or 667 RAM.
