I am sorry if this topic has been answered but I do not know how to search for it. I have a desktop replacement laptop and it says to support harddisk of maximum 40 GB.But the siye and connection device should be the same regardless of the disk size. So is it possible for me to buy an 80 GB to use while I an sure that the jumper will fit.

Probably not. If the laptop supports max 40 GB.
Possibly you can get a BIOS update to fix the problem. Check the manufacturers website.
