I have a question about memory timing.
I'm gonna buy a ABIT IS7 & a P4 3000 (800fsb)in a couple of days.
I have decided to get 1G (2x512)of Kingston HyperX memory.
but am a bit confused about the memory timing reference.

do i get:-

Kingston HyperX 'KHX3200K2/1G' timing ref 2-2-2-6-1
or
Kingston HyperX 'KHX3200AK2/1G' timing ref 2-3-2-6-1

they both are exactly the same apart from the memory timing reference and the 'KHX3200K2/1G' is £40 more expencive, is it worth the extra money ?
I won't be overclocking it? yet.
It will be used for general things and games.

hope you can help.
Thanks
roch.

I don't think i've ever seen a Winbond Rev C based DDR400 rated memory module with a tRCD of 2; it's usually 3 like in the second kit listed. So, it's probably the case that the first kit's modules are built with Winbond Rev B ICs and the second are built with Winbond Rev C ICs. Winbond Rev B based modules are in high demand among overclockers for their ability to reach high memory clocks with good timings if given enough voltage. But, Winbond Rev B is no longer in production - low supply. So, low supply plus high demand at least partially contributes to the price difference.

I agree get the cheeper stuff, you WILL not notice a performance diffrence even in benchmarks, its one measly clock, if you overclock the other ram by 1mhz you will surely overcome any possible minute performance diffrence. Plus 40 pounds is a lot of money especially for 1 damn clock cycle.

If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a procesor

it is a lousy 4% increase compared to the major pricedifference.. leave it out :)
