I just got an HP dv9730. Would it be easy/possible to upgrade the cpu from the included t5450 to a t7700 or higher?

thanks for any help

It's possible to upgrade, they're using the same socket. However, how easy it's going to be, I don't know. Taking apart a laptop can be easy or hard depending on the chassis. The price for a T7700 is 325 on Newegg, so it's not massively overpriced, it just depends if you want to upgrade right now or not.

If you really wanted to upgrade, I would do it now since the new Penryns are out. When the Santa Rosa CPU's came out, the original Core2's went up in price. Basically what I'm saying is that I'm not sure if the price is going to get any better.
