Sorry if this is a bit OT (not sure which forum).

Some days ago my computer begun to run noticeably slower in one app. I didn't think anything of it until I noticed the slowdown was in all my games and after trying 3Dmark I'd definately slowed down around 700-800 points.

Does anyone know how to find out what is causing the slowdown? I'm pretty sure it isn't my settings or hardware, as they are the same as always.

I still only have Explorer and Systray running in the background (CTR ALT DEL), which has kinda lost me. Could it be some addition to the registry (if so, what can I do, how can I find it?)?

Any help would be appreciated (don't suggest reformating please ) as I'm stumped.

Thanks!

Have you been keeping your maintenance up on your hardrive by running Scandisk and Disk Defragger regularly?

Reply to 4ryan6

Yup. Pretty regularly. Did Scandisk just today and I defrag whenever I install/uninstall a lot of software (every 2-4 weeks).

I think it may have happened after I installed something or edited something. Not sure exactly what it was. Strange how all of a sudden things were slower.

Thanks.
