Anyone had any experience with this model? Good purchase? Asus is a quality company correct? I'll be using it for electrical engineering schooling and some gaming and multi-media stuff. Any thoughts? Thanks for any info!

I don't have experience with it, but here's a review from a forum member over at notebookreview.com. It includes some benchmarks and comparisons for your convenience.

thanks! yeah i read that review and all the replies on it...which made me a bit more confident that this is my choice. the one thing that sorta concerns me is the glossy screen. are there benefits to a glossy screen? b/c the way i see it is that a glossy screen only adds glare. of course i'm comparing the matte screen on a viewsonic vx922 to the glossy screen on an old crappy compaq crt monitor from like 1998, so it's not a very fair judgment. also is a 32-bit system going to relevant for awhile? or will 64bit soon take over? some people say stick with 32 other say buy for the future, so i'm really confused. thanks again!

Glossy screens also tend to have better color representation. They will be more vibrant. But yes, they do produce glare. Personally, I'm a fan of the glossy screen and I don't think I would get a matte screen unless I did a lot of work outdoors.

As far as 32bit vs 64bit, there isn't a whole lot of support yet for 64bit and I don't see it become necessary in the near future. Unless you need 4gb or more of memory, I think a 32bit OS is fine for now.
