Hei, I'm interested in the Asus M70, which seems to be on the verge of being released.

Would ppl say the quality be essentially the same as the M51? As I understand it, Asus notebooks are quite solid, but does that mean immediate build quality, or does that also mean longevity as well? Some notebooks develop problems over time (Dell, Sony), and I'd like to get one which lasts me 5 years.

I've looked at the HP dv9700, but it strikes me as cheeply built. My main drivers are good quality graphics card and display. The rest can be upgraded as I can afford.

Any idea what the difference between the M70Sa and M70Sr will be? Asus ain't saying. They're not even describing the difference between the M50Sa and M50Sr.

I'll be running Debian 64bit on it. I've run Debian for ten years, but never 64 bit. Any idea how apps are handled? Do they come as 64 bit, or is there a 32bit emulator in the 64 bit OS?

Anyone know when the M70 will be out in the US? (It's already out Down Under and in the EU) Any idea of price?
