I just bought a 60gig Vid 5G. Does anyone know if there is any harm in setting my backlight for the screen to stay on all the time (other than decreased battery life when not plugged in)? In other words, will the screen in my Ipod burn out faster if its always "on"? Thanks much in advance!

Because the iPod has a limited number of charge cycles (it's supposed to be around 300-500 charges), the battery will eventually need to be replaced. That means somewhere down the road, you will have to send your iPod in for a battery replacement, which isn't cheap, either. Since having the backlight on all the time will mean you have to charge your iPod more often, ultimately your battery will die out faster and the sooner you'll have to get it replaced.
