Hey,
Correct me if i am wrong;
you can use different size [and manufactuer]HDs
raid 0 will increase write speed and boost my pc's performance.
both drives have to be in what type of file system [which type?]
both drives have to be the same format [ide compared to serial ata]
and is setting up raid 0 a somewhat easy thing to do because i am looking at getting a new mobo and HD and setting up RAID 0 between the new hd and my current one.

thank you

Yes, you can use HDs of different size and manufacturer, but your array will be limited by the smallest and slowest drive.
RAID 0 increases both read and write performance. Although, in some situations (e.g. random access to many small files) RAID 0 may be slower than a single drive.
You can choose any filesystem you want for your array. You can even choose different filesystems for different partitions, just like you can for a single drive. From the OS point of view, your array is just one drive.
All RAID controllers I have seen are either PATA or SATA. So you have to use drives with similar interfaces.
Setting up a RAID 0 array is reletively easy. I suggest you read the RAID faq for some hints and walk-throughs.
