First off, those boards are Dell ONLY. You will only be able to use a Dell in that machine. You can't go on any online retailer and expect to find one that will fit unless you decide to gut it and build your own from the parts. The board will likely cost you upwards of $100 for a refurbished model since they're no longer made.

If your idea was to EBAY a board, download the Intel Chipset Identifier utility on the Intel website. That will help you find out what board to get from Dell's site. There should be a list of boards and chipsets for the Inspiron 2200 series PCs, then look for the closest match on EBAY.

Good luck with that =D

Yo umight end up spending more then the thing is worth. I fixed one not long ago, that Dell wanted $650 for the mobo. The power adapter was broke. I bought a new one for $4.00 and soldered it on. I charged $150 for labor and customer was so happy.

You could get a decent laptop new with warrant for $400-$500.
