I did a little searching and apparently you are using ram (pc2300) that is not very widely used. Now, apparently all pc2300 consists of is pc2100 ram that is factory overclocked or it could also be a specially designed chip. In any case pc2100 will be compatible with your lappy. Although this ram is quite a bit more expensive than normal DDR2 ram of today. A new 512 MB stick will cost you about $30, where a new 1 GB stick will set you back around $50-$80.
Now for whether your Motherboard can handle this much ram, I don't know. It would be best if you could give us the exact name of the mother board, not just the chipset. (You can use a program called CPU-Z to get this info if you don't know it, just google it.)
