Whats the role of processor, ram and rom in a mobile phone?

i was thinking of getting a new mobile but i am kinda stuck between samsung and nokia. all nokia mobiles got a processor, ram and rom memories but samsung got good looks with a ordinary OS and no processor. so i would like to hear from some professional what is the role of processor, ram in a mobile.
