I am having a Samsung 970p shipped to me and I want to know what DVI cable I should purchase for the monitor, unless one comes with the monitor.

The monitor comes with both DVI and D-Sub VGA cables. I know I have just got mine delivered.

I read a review on cnet about this monitor, they said it was good. I am still waiting to see if Tom's will do a review. Now that you have used it for a bit, what are your impressions? What are you using it for? Gaming? Movies?

I do a fair bit of design in Photoshop, so graphics are important, also a gamer.

I can honestly say that this is the best monitor I have seen for the money (and I've looked at plenty)

Performance is superb, colours bright and vibrant, text is crystal clear and in both gaming and watching movies have not noticed the slightest smearing or blurring.

Although more expensive than your standard 19" LCD worth every penny.

BTW it also looks great.

Can heartily recommend, hope this helps.

hi,

I've just purchased 970P as well ... overall really impressed compared to other monitors ... but I haven't found picture to be perfect . Most people say it is damn good so I thought maybe monitor needs to be calibrated in certain way or driver updated or something?

I used it for gaming as well etc .. tested to the max and found that it has slight bluring (occurs when you move).. it happens for a split of a second and then focuses but enough to see it... also some gradients (darker) are not as smooth and you can see color steps sometimes ... also when playing Counter Strike Source I found in shadowy areas (inside rooms) black has a hint of green in it... well at least it looks like it after CRT...

I assume this can be tweaked any ideas ???
Any tips & tricks ?

cheers

monitor comes with a DVI cable -- no need to buy an extra.

If you use the calibration software that comes with it, the colors look much better.. however the instructions with the software are lacking. took me many trials.

the main thing that thew me here is NO OSD. everything is done via software. Takes a lot of getting used to.

No blurring in games. video looks great. Although when used over an analog connection, you can see artifacts from video. but I cant see any from gaming.

hm that's odd ... can tell us what software did you use to calibrate it and what did you find as a best combination? For me all defaults looked the best so that's why I didn't find Magic Tune very useful ... maybe you could go into bit more depth regards to calibrating it... thanks
