I have a PC, not a laptop, that has the battery control options enabled when there is no battery in the system (other than the CMOS battery of course).  To be more exact, in Windows XP if you were to go into the screen saver and then the "Monitor Power" option you can actually configure the power schemes (and I have it set to always be on).  Under alarms, it has options for low and critical battery alarms and options which I have unchecked.
 
If this were the only quirk then it wouldn't be a problem, but occassionally the system thinks the batteries are getting low and decides to shut down the system (or enter hiberation).  Does anyone know how to turn off the laptop recognition on a PC because it's not a laptop.  I've googled this problem and couldn't even find a person who has had this problem and my only thought was to post in a laptop forum as a last shot before reformatting the entire hard drive.
