Hi to all,

Today i formatted my friends laptop (asus PRo71F series) and i installed xp pro on it.

after searching the whole wide internet i finally managed to get all the drivers for xp, since he only got drivers for vista with the laptop. and apparently asus isnt so proud on their machine because they dont really mention the laptop, let alone have the drivers, on their website...

now,
after finding out what sound card it has (realtek alc660) i found the drivers, installed them... says that the hardware is working properly..

however, no sound , nothing.

when i play an mp3 or something, it plays, but gives no sound....

anyone know how to solve or where to look for this problem????

thanks very much

I don't know about a fix, but I have the same problem, it's just not as severe. exactly 3/4 of the time i start it up the sound works fine, but 1 in every four restarts the sound is just dead. did you try restarting repeatedly?
