Using CD/rw for every-day use?

I was just wondering if it is ok to use my old CD/rw as my only drive, or should I buy another read-only one, in order to conserve the cd/rw.

I would really like to save the money, but I see how most new computers come with 2 cd drives, and the salesperson is claiming that it is better to use the RW only when burning CD's (But who trusts the sales-person anymore, right :p )

Thanks,
Amar

PS. My CD/RW is Sony 52x/24x/52 CRX220A1. Am I right in assuming that it won't be any slower then regular 52X CD-R only because it can also write?

One more thing,

I am using my CD-drive mainly for playing games once a week or so, in other words no excessive usage.

I used my LiteOn CD-RW for CD reading (for more than 1 year), until I bought a DVD-ROM . It had no problem with reading and it didn't die.

CD-RWs read pressed/cd-r/audio CDs as fast as CD-ROMs and reads CD-RWs much faster than CD-ROMs.

The benefit you get from 2 drives is the ability to copy CDs on-the-fly. Otherwise using only CD-RW is fine.
