I'm currently looking for a 19" LCD to replace my trusty old 17" CRT. I've given a lot of thought whether I should go for the wide screen aspect or “regular”.

Widescreen is obviously a better choice for watching DVD’s and DivX (which I do a lot), but the question is if games will play well enough in 1440 x 900 resolution.

I have a radeon 9800 pro that, in my opinion, can run most games reasonably smoothly in 1280x1024. Will it do the same in the wider, yet comparable resolution? And will games at all support the 16:10 format?

As a secondary question I would like to ask if anyone has any thoughts about the Viewsonic VA1912w
