the prong that the battery charger plugs broke off inside- it can’t be fixed without replacing the motherboard

Yes, most likely. It probably just needs to be soldered back on. Take it to any local electronics repair place and they can probably do it for you. Or contact the manufacturer if your laptop is still under warranty.
