Sony VAIO PDG-C1VE application issues: windows XP

hi, i have a sony vaio pcg-c1ve which came installed with windows ME, i fort it was bout time to upgrade to widows xp. i have windows xp installed and all of the drivers it needs. but i have an application probelm when trying to use a program that came with the system from new. the program is called sony smart capture and i need this to access my built in webcam. it allows me to install this but it will not let me run it. i click to open the application and i am prompted with this error message [ THIS APPLICATION ONLY RUNS ON SONY VAIO SERIES. CODE = (1) ], i was woundering if anyone would be able to help.
