Gateway laptop

Hi everyone,

I have a question about a gateway 6020GZ laptop I received from my father-in-law. My sister-in-law had it before me and had all kinds of crap on it so I did a fresh install of XP. Both before and after the install the DVD drive has had issues.

For some reason it will play my son's Rattatoullie DVD but will not recognize my office 2007 dvd. It is a qsi-242 dvd drive.

I have tried to reinstall drivers, update the drivers, all my windows updates are current, im out of ideas. Does anyone have any other ideas?

If you can access it, clean the laser lens. Use a gentle solvent (alcohol, propanol) sparingly applied with a cotton bud held by one end to avoid putting pressure on the focus mechanism. Dry with the other end of the bud.
