My Dell printer worked fine with my laptop until I recently signed up for Vorion DSL and installed their modem and security package, which required deinstalling McAfee.

Now when I click print, I get this message: "No printers are installed."

However, when I unplug and replug the USB cord, I hear the little bell suggesting the printer has been recognized.

When I go to the "printer" area of the control panel and click on "view installed printer," no printer shows.

Next I try "install printer." I get this message: "Operation can't be completed. Spooler service is not running."

Can anyone help? Thanks.

To Jacer,

Since no one has responded I will hazard some guesses. But evidently you have some software conflicts sitting on your spooler drivers.

First you need to uninstall everything involved with the printer---all software directories. Check the dell website to see if they have a unistall program.---which may get troublesome stuff out of the registry. If not try a registry cleaning program---I recommend reg seeker---its free--just google regseeker.-------install regseeker---reboot---run regseeker---its scarily agressive but does back up the registry. Then reboot and make sure all is well-----then reinstall your printer drivers
and see if the printer comes back flying right.

You might alternately check out the verison security software. It may have a default to disable spooling that can be reset or changed---but do check with and report to Verizon that you have this problem----and they might have a fix. And it may not be the end of the world if you just chuck the verizon security and get something else less facist. Lots of internet security packages out there---many are free---but if its a trade with the printer or their security package--its a no brainer--keep the printer and gets something else.
