XP not picking up change of CD or DVD

Sometimes, when I change the CD or DVD in the Drive, windows insists that the
previous disk has been re-inserted, no matter how many times I reinsert the
disk. This is enormously frustrating.

Is there a way to remedy this?

Did you try the Eject button on the drive properties panel?
