Just had a recent problem installing a WD 40GB HDD on a MSI K7N2-Delta mobo. Bios would recognize the drive, but windows setup or fdisk would not. Turns out, if you cut Pin #1 on the IDE cable, it fixes this problem. Seems to be an issue with the reset code from the motherboard.

Just thought I would let anyone know in case they have the same issue.

Spec:
Intel P4 2.4B
MSI 645E Max-U Mobo
512MB DDR333
R9600XT 128MB

WD 60GB
Maxtor 120GB
LG DVD+-R/RW
WIN2K PRO SP4

You set the jumpers right? I had an issue where the BIOS would reconize the drive, but I was unable to install Windows. It turns out, Western Digital had two different pictures of where the jumper settting were. The one picture was wrong. I reset the jumper, and all was good.

Yeah, all jumper settings were correct. I tried with an old Fujitso drive, and it worked great, but not with the WD drive. I actually found the fix searching for compatibility issues between the MSI board and WD drives.
