Hey I no a dissent amount about PC mostly Desktops. But im getting a notebook soon and i needs some help.

2 questions!

AMD of INTEL for mobile "prefer INTEL but IDN"

In the era of $300 desktops, $650 really doesn't get you a lot as far as laptops go. You're pretty much limited to Dell Vostro, Hewlett Packard 6700 / 6800 series (like what you have above), Gateway M serires, and Acer Aspire, or something used.

Toshiba, Sony, Lenovo, and Asus all start out about at least $100 more. Generally given an identical chipset, processor, ram, and HDD there's barely any differene between brands as far as performance goes (provided a clean OS install).

If you ever go the DIY / BYO route, $650 will get you just a chassis; you still have to get processor, RAM, HDD, wireless / bluetooth, and sometimes optical drive

What are you going to be using it for?

For basic uses either Intel or AMD will be fine. Intel's perform better, including longer battery life, but AMD's tend to be cheaper.
