I have seen a few ghosts at work.
Its hard to deny seeing a ghost when the person you are working with sees the same thing at the same time.
Where I work a few people died during construction. I don't think they left.

I think a ghost is a soul that chooses to stay near the place their body died.

I've stated it before.

My perception is that yes souls exist. In a different dimension, yes. Hence why we can't "extract" one, nor see it, but feel it.
There are sometimes feelings like we always knew the person, like we feel something beyond attraction. I believe some of these feelings are spiritual as in beyond physical.
I believe that we live forever as souls, and that each life we live in stored in our mind, but locked. Think about all that potential, the supposed 10% most use only. Where's the rest from? What if it had beyond physics powers? It can't only be "superintelligence" or telekinetic abilities. If 10% allows us to create a world with electronics to do things for us, an extra 10% is sufficient for telekinetic abilities I say. And geniuses exist on earth and have found tons of things. So how much are THOSE using of their brain?

Bah, all I can say is I have faith in the existance of them. One of the tons of different reasons I have, one that I like a lot, is that of what John Edwards can do. No, not the politician lol!
The psychic. Ever seen his show?
I really believe in his ability. It's simply amazing how he can find the most obscure if not unknown things in a human, and bring forth messages from the passed on. I've seen many of his episodes, enough to know his types of readings aren't limited at all and you have many different ways he reads and interprets messages, so that it's not always the same, thus a diverse ability, which makes it more credible.

So do souls exist?

If you're religious, then yes should be the answer and you needn't say more.
If you're agnostic, perhaps.
If you're like me, developping personal faith, I also would say yes, and elaborate on my personal view of it.

I do believe when we here are talking about souls, we're not using the figurative form some use in daily life like "what a beautiful soul you have"... Had that misinterpretation tons of times with someone here I know quite well (you know who you are, Mr. first button on a menu bar! :lol: ), so I think what I am clearing up is also what you agree with, in the general definition.
A soul is beyond a human or a physical form. It's an essence, an entity that exists.

Sounds to me like you are just believing stuff that you are making up as you go along... Don't see how that can work.

True, but I have seen documentary where slightly over half of the brain was removed to stop seizures and child recovered to funtion normally. This operation has been performed numerous times. The remaining part adapts.

I saw that, or at least another case. I wouldn't say she was completely normal. She had reduced functionality of half of her body and had problems remembering how to spell words.

True, there are lasting effects, but the point is that they adapt with less than half a brain. Your functions are not area specific. Each brain connects up with receptors in unique individual ways, and as you learn and grow, your brain adapts.

No, I said what seems most realistic or continues to bear logic to me. Well, I can't remember if I said it here or on MSN, I might be mixing two discussions that happened pretty closely in time.
Besides, beliefs change over time, as we discover more variables. What, we already know the limits of the universe and how many there are?

But this does bring up the question about the sections of a brain. The so called hemispheres (creativity and the other I forget), and the parts where different feelings come up, from smells, to memories.
Were they all false and the brain is one huge modular (creating spaces for functions as willing) processing unit?

You can't read about souls. Anything you read will most likely just be someone's opinion, so it really isn't too credible if you are looking for a right answer.

Does it really matter if people have souls in the traditional sense anyway?

YOU still see his face, but you cannot say what anybody else sees. and the truth of the matter is you don't even see what's really there, what you see is what your ego-mind has been telling you is there since you were capable of perception(since you've been using that body you call yours) and since your surroundings(society, parents and culture) have been telling you(building up your ego-mind) what you should be and should not be seeing.

It's very probable you haven't a clue to what i'm saying and that's ok, everything will still be flowing one way or another.

Someone's "beliefs" mean squat to me if it is facts we are in search of. Whether or not I understand it is irrelevant. I can think, "that's a good way of looking at that," or something, but when the discussion involves something that cannot really be proven right or wrong, what's the point of treating it extra special?

Someone can opine all they want about whatever they want. Pike's, or scamtron's, or your statements about souls is doing just that, and that's great. If you find happiness believing what you believe, then more power to you.

That still means you're a tool for believing in John Edwards though.

I didn't make Pike to be extra special, but given him being a very spiritual person if not the most here (hey, yall call him the hippy), I was curious to know what his POV would be like. Scammy's wanting more POVs and info, hence his thread. So there is nothing really about proving anything, merely looking at different POVs and trying to understand more.
